3D Printing summer camp

Build Your Own Toy with a 3D Pen

This camp is all about elevating imagination building their favorite toy. Campers will learn about 3D printing technology and 3D printers. Students will turn ordinary drawings into 3D works of art. We will be using 3D pens and plastic filament to “draw” in three dimensions. All through the week they will be working on multiple pieces of art to make one final take home project.

The objective of this class is to introduce students to 3D printing technology while emphasizing the significance of good design principles.

Students will use 3D printing pens to design interesting objects, parts, and artwork while learning about additive manufacturing technology, its pros and cons as compared to traditional manufacturing methods. Attention will be drawn to key design considerations related to aesthetics, structural stability, materials optimization, aspect ratio, ease of use, and functionality.

Students will be given specific themes to create their own designs before actually making those by using a 3D pen.
