COMPUCHILD IS STEM PROVIDER CERTIFIED BY COGNIA
CompuChild is proud to have received the most prestigious “STEM Provider Certification” from the world-renowned organization, Cognia (formerly AdvancED). Cognia’s certification process is designed for national and international STEM providers committed to high-quality STEM education. As of 2022, we are one of the only two after-school STEM program providers to earn a STEM Provider Certification from Cognia.
In order to be certified, CompuChild’s programs were rigorously evaluated on four key STEM Provider Standards:
STEM Pipeline
- Provider supports increased learner participation and engagement in STEM programming.
- Provider facilitates partner and stakeholder engagement for participation in and/or support of the STEM program.
- Provider facilitates collaboration among content experts, developers, and/or staff to create and improve integrated STEM content.
STEM Learning
- STEM programs encourage learner collaboration and independence in an inquiry-based learning environment that encourages finding creative solutions to authentic and complex problems.
- STEM programs emphasize self-directed STEM learning guided by educators who are effective facilitators of learning
- STEM programs embed learners’ use of technology resources to develop skills and competencies related to the STEM workforce.
STEM Connections
- STEM program curriculum and activities are interdisciplinary and problem-based, with a focus on real world application.
- Programs encourage STEM extensions through enrichment and/or extended-day or extended-year opportunities
- STEM programming emphasizes outcomes that demonstrate learner acquisition of STEM knowledge and skills representative of those areas required for success at progressively higher levels of STEM learning and work.
STEM Program Efficacy
- Provider offers training and professional learning associated with STEM curriculum, programming, and/or implementation to support improved efficacy.
- Provider uses a framework for implementation for program participants or specific sites where programs are implemented.
- Provider uses a research or evidence-based model for program evaluation and planning for continuous improvement.

The STEM Provider Certification is definitely a recognition of the quality of our programs but more importantly, it’s a reflection of our commitment to constantly evaluate ourselves in order to stay on the path of improvement.
